Biofuel covers a whole range of options to reduce our carbon footprint. Bio-diesel for internal combustion engines is an obvious one, though there are concerns with both forest clearance to make way for bio-fuel crops and the land it takes away from global food production. Waste wood can be burned in power stations to generate electricity, alongside fast growing wood, like Willow grown specifically as bio-fuel. Methane from sewage plants as well as from landfill sites, can be captured. Once captured, it can be added to the gas grid as bio-gas or it can be used to generate electricity. Algae can be mass produced and also used as a biofuel.
